I was getting my hair done yesterday and a brightly colored notebook there caught my eye! (see photo at the end of this post!) Inspiration for card designs are everywhere!! I snapped a picture and couldn’t wait to recreate it! I began by stamping these gorgeous poppies from Stampinback onto Strathmore watercolor paper with Versafine Onyx Black ink. I decided to color them with Zig markers, using my waterbrush to move and soften the color. I used a Fine Point Sharpie to accent the centers. Pressing each flower onto a Versamark embossing pad then heat-embossing with clear powder gave them a beautiful shine and really popped the color! Once dry, I fussy-cut them out, and set them aside while I searched for some striped paper! I found this design and trimmed it down to adhere to a panel of white card stock, then to a black base card. I laid out the blossoms and used bits of foam tape to attach them in layers to the card front. For the stems, I just snipped pieces of the same white card stock and glued them into place. As a card maker, I find inspiration all around me, even from the most mundane things! I haven’t decided if I’ll add a sentiment to this or not. Can you blame me for wanting to recreate this striking image into a card?! I’m just sayin’!! 😀
