My sister-in-law recently asked me to make a card with calla lilies for her to give to my brother for their upcoming tenth anniversary! Ten years ago I made their wedding invitations using Stampin Up’s calla lily from their Ageless Adornments set! I no longer own Ageless Adornments so found this wonderful image by PSX from ebay and set to work! As always, I started with a piece of Bristol Smooth watercolor paper, and heat-embossed the flower in white. I then did a wash of soft yellow and gray around it with Zig markers and lots of water. To stamp the script I had to make a mask of the lilies and then stamp over it.
I used shades of gray to color in the blossoms and a little green for the stems and leaves. After smudging more gray ink around the edges, I remembered that I have this great BLESSED sentiment stamp (from who knows where!!) and so heat-embossed it in white onto a strip of vellum. I then just wrapped it around to the back of the panel, taped it down and adhered the panel to a layer of soft green, and finally onto a card base of shimmery gray. I love the elegant softness of this card and I think they will too! Here’s a photograph I found of the invitations I made in 2008! Bad lighting but they loved these and I did too! 🙂 Happy 10th anniversary, Jim & Lisa!! ❤
