I had never ordered a card kit from any company before, so when I received Simon Says Stamp‘s June card kit I was so amazed at all the goodies it contained! One of the most awesome items is this Tim Holtz Sizzix Botanical 3D Texture Fades Embossing Folder! (Now that’s a mouthful!!) But just look at the deeply detailed embossed texture!! The instructions advise dampening your card stock before running it through your embossing machine, but I didn’t do that and it came out beautifully! This gorgeous Cornflower Blue card stock also came in the kit with a coordinating envelope. I heat-embossed the floral spray from SSS’s Beautiful Flowers set in black onto Bristol Smooth card stock, then used my Zig markers to color it in. I used a dark blue marker to fill in the background and spattered water droplets over it all when it was dry. I trimmed the panel down to a strip which I mounted onto a layer of white card stock, then attached it with some foam tape to the beautiful embossed base card. The final touch was to emboss the sentiment onto a scrap of white, add a little jewel and place that with a bit of foam tape to lift it up. I just love the rich color and feel of this card! I made this card next except that I used the other side of the embossed base card, so the design is recessed. It’s a little more subtle look. I colored the blossoms again with my Zig markers, using shades of red, orange and yellows, colored the background with blue again and spattered drops of water! A strip of black behind the flowers makes it stand out against the white base card. To finish this card, I heat-embossed in black one of the sentiments from Altenew’s Label Love onto a scrap of white, and lifted it with a bit of foam tape. I loved making these richly colored cards and I promise these won’t be the last ones you see with Beautiful Flowers!! 🙂
I received Splash of Color, a painting/coloring book for Christmas and decided it was high time I used it! I love that the images are printed on heavy watercolor paper! I cut this particular page into five pieces and here’s the first one I finished! I used Zig markers and a waterbrush; when the image was dry I spattered droplets of water, as I often do! Oh, and black spatters of paint!! After painting the image, I cut it down using Gina Marie Designs Stitched Oval dies, then cut a slightly larger layer in lime green. I ran my gray card base through the Cuttlebug with an embossing folder to give it added dimension, then mounted the ovals onto that, lifted with another oval of fun foam. Lastly, I stamped and cut the sentiment using Hero Arts Ribbon Messages; I used scraps of watercolor paper and adhered three banners together to form the thick one I attached to the card. This is the second card I made using one of the pieces I cut down from a page in Splash Of Color painting/coloring book. This time I used Gina Marie Designs Stitched Circle dies. I embossed the vanilla base card with a large dots embossing folder to mimic the circles. The sentiment is Label Love by Altenew. I really enjoyed the simplicity of creating with pre-printed images!
How stunning is this?! It’s the first time I’ve used this gigantic image by Stampendous which I purchased on ebay. I heat-embossed it in white onto a piece of Bienfang Canvasette Paper Canvas and used Gansai Tambi watercolors to paint it! I decided to try my hand again at an eclipse card, so using my Etched Alphabet dies by Spellbinders, I cut out the letters MOM and set them aside. I adhered my panel to a layer of yellow card stock, then to a white card base. To pop the letters, I die-cut MOM in white fun foam, attached the painted letters to the top of the foam letters, then glued them into place on my card. Here’s another Stampendous Jumbo (Peony) and I’m not sure I like how dark this card is! But I also heat-embossed in white onto the Bienfang Canvasette Canvas paper, and used the Gansai Tambi paints. I spattered black and white watery paint onto the surface then trimmed the panel down to mount to yellow card stock, and a white card base. I heat-embossed the Altenew Label Love sentiment in black onto a scrap and lifted it with a bit of foam tape.
Today was a very busy day with babysitting grandsons and attending a bridal shower, but I got to spend some time in my stamp room this afternoon and decided to work with stencils, as I’ve been seeing a lot of them used on backgrounds lately! The first stenciled layer on this card was done with a beautiful Tim Holtz stencil Gothic, using Broken China and Wilted Violet distress oxides and water. I found the image of a woman on Pinterest, printed it out and made my own stencil with it, and layered that on next, sponging around it with Iced Spruce distress oxide ink. I then laid a scripty stencil over her and sponged on more ink for added interest. Black Soot oxide softened the edges of my panel. I had this colored floral image (Charmed by Altenew) already in my stash and stamped a script stamp over the flowers, then softened the cut edges with Black Soot distress oxide. I cut it apart in order to layer it with pieces of foam tape. The last step was to heat-emboss in black the sentiment from Altenew’s Label Love, one of my favorite sentiment sets! A base card of lavender completes my card!
I know! I know! All I do is gush over Stampendous!! But look!! These jumbo blossoms are to DIE for!! This one is their retired Jumbo Peony which I found on ebay after months of searching! SCORE!! Heat-embossed in white onto Strathmore watercolor paper, I painted it with Gansai Tambi watercolor paints, then very faintly stamped one of my script-y stamps onto the background. A strip of fun black and white patterned paper, a few sequins……and Altenew’s Label Love sentiment embossed in black, all layered onto a white card base complete this beauty! Stampendous Jumbo Dahlia is so striking! Again, I heat-embossed in white on watercolor paper, painted with Gansai Tambi watercolors, layered it onto white then onto a white card base. Easy-peasy! I later added a sentiment like the one above. Stampendous Jumbo Peony in Gansai Tambi shades of orange and blue~ spatters of white to accent the black heat-embossed image. Watercolor paper on a white card base. What’s not to love?! 😉
Have I mentioned how much I love Stampendous stamps?! 😀 I made a video of the making of this card (needs editing before posting!) and had just finished it, then went out to check the mail only to find a package of NEW Stampendous stamps for me to create with and share on social media for them!!! WOOHOO!! I began this card by heat-embossing the image in black onto a piece of Strathmore Bristol Smooth paper, and stamped the flourishes in Versafine Onyx Black permanent ink. I then “painted” a wash of water over the blossom and using my Gansai Tambi watercolor paints, filled it in with color. I created the background with more water, shades of blue, a bit of yellow and then added gray around the flower. My trusty script stamp was inked up with Versafine and stamped lightly over the background. The obligatory spatters of black paint and a sentiment (Altenew’s Label Love) which I heat-embossed with black and lifted with a bit of foam tape, completed the card! I trimmed it down and mounted it to a white card base. My daughter, Becca (a graphic design student!) graciously created my new logo!! You can check out her work here!
