It’s Wednesday and we’re back with some great projects using Clear Toner Sheets! I used mine as an overlay this time for not one, but TWO cards! Now, I’m not a martini lover but when I made this fun background using Brutus Monroe’s Paint Spots stencil and distress oxide inks, the shape and colors made me think of martini’s! I just happen to have Unity Stamps I Like It Dirty stamp set and pulled that out to play! But first, let me tell you how I made the background ; on a panel of watercolor cardstock, I taped down my stencil then sponged over it with Pistachio oxide ink, shifted the stencil, added Squeezed Lemonade then shifted the stencil again and finished with Picked Raspberry! Voila!For the main image, I stamped out the martini glass onto a die-cut circle of cardstock using Raven Detail Ink, then colored it with Zig markers. Next, I added a layer of Crystal Effects glue over the glass to give it shine! I stamped out the funny sentiment onto a scrap of paper, trimmed it down and mounted it with a bit of foam tape.To assemble my card, I trimmed down the Coffee Rings toner sheet to fit my card front and attached it to the dotted background with four pink brads. I then adhered it to my black card base and mounted the big circle to that with another circle of fun foam. I am so tickled with how this card came out! Almost makes me want a martini! 😀How freaking cute is this?! After I completed the card above, I decided to make another background using the Paint Spots stencil! You can’t see much of this one, but here’s how I did it. On a panel of watercolor cardstock, I again taped my stencil down and sponged on Twisted Citron oxide ink, shifted the stencil, added Worn Lipstick and finally another layer of Squeezed Lemonade. I love the look of Emboss Resist so shifted my stencil one more time and using a sponge dauber with Versamark ink, I filled in the spaces. I heat-embossed them with clear powder and the end result was a layer of shiny spots! Next, I heavily sponged Black Soot oxide over the whole panel, then rubbed it off the embossed dots with a paper towel. I die-cut the panel with a stitched circle die and set it aside.On another die-cut circle of white card stock, I stamped the martini glass again but this time colored with Copics! I added some stippled dots around the glass with assorted shades of pink for a little visual interest. I stamped the sentiment directly onto the image. An olive green card base was embossed with a large dots folder, then I die-cut that into a larger circle, keeping one edge flat on the fold.I ran the Coffee Rings Toner Sheet through the Cuttlebug with the smaller circle die and stapled it to the martini glass circle! As you can see, I layered them all together, attaching the layers with adhesive. Finally, I added little pink and green ribbons to the staples for one more detail! Phew! This sounds like it was a lot of work, but it actually took me about half an hour to make, total! I had so much fun making these two cards, and think the Toner Sheet adds a really great dimension! But, just wait till you see what Marie, Berina, and Waleska have made! We’re all going a bit crazy with the new stuff at Brutus Monroe!!
I was incredibly honored and thrilled to be invited to guest design for Brutus Monroe using their super-cute set called Dragon Kisses! I LOVE this grumpy-faced little dragon and made my first card featuring him! To begin, I stamped him onto a piece of Bristol Smooth card stock using Versafine Onyx Black permanent ink, then masked in order to sponge the background using Broken China and Peeled Paint distress oxide inks. I removed the mask and colored the dragon with Zig markers. I wanted him to stand out even more against the soft background so I coated him with a glaze of Glossy Accents.I added a little shadow beneath him with a gray Zig marker, then decided to create a little gray “cloud” behind him using Iced Spruce distress oxide ink. Finally, I trimmed down the panel using Gina Marie Designs Stitched Rectangle dies, adhered it to another die-cut panel of black then to a white card base. I stamped the sentiment at the top and finished the inside next.The Dragon Kisses set has a stamp that says “Because I miss your face” and I masked off all of it except “Because I” so I could add the larger sentiment “Miss your face” which is from the AWESOME Brutus Monroe set called Super Sentimental! I cut that panel down using Gina’s Stitched Rectangle dies again, and adhered it to the inside. I think this card is SO cute and I had a lot of fun creating something other than my usual flowers! 🙂Speaking of Super Sentimental, how perfectly do these sentiments fit with the adorable dragons from Dragon Kisses?! I mean, c’mon!! I stamped the sentiments on the four corners of a base card of vanilla card stock, then set that aside to work on the dragon couple! I stamped them onto a piece of Bristol Smooth card stock using Versafine Onyx Black ink then colored them with my Zig markers. I fussy-cut them out then coated them with a glaze of Glossy Accents, and set them aside as well. Using Gina Marie Designs Stitched Circle dies, I cut a large circle of Bristol Smooth then smooshed it into puddles of distress oxide inks of Fired Brick, Carved Pumpkin and Fossilized Amber to denote “flames”!When that dried, I attached the dragons using bits of foam tape to bring the lady-dragon forward! My last step was to randomly stamp the little trio of hearts from Super Sentimental all over the base card before adhering the circle.Don’t tell him, but I may tuck this card aside for my hubby! I received Splash of Color, a painting/coloring book for Christmas and decided it was high time I used it! I love that the images are printed on heavy watercolor paper! I cut this particular page into five pieces and here’s the first one I finished! I used Zig markers and a waterbrush; when the image was dry I spattered droplets of water, as I often do! Oh, and black spatters of paint!! After painting the image, I cut it down using Gina Marie Designs Stitched Oval dies, then cut a slightly larger layer in lime green. I ran my gray card base through the Cuttlebug with an embossing folder to give it added dimension, then mounted the ovals onto that, lifted with another oval of fun foam. Lastly, I stamped and cut the sentiment using Hero Arts Ribbon Messages; I used scraps of watercolor paper and adhered three banners together to form the thick one I attached to the card. This is the second card I made using one of the pieces I cut down from a page in Splash Of Color painting/coloring book. This time I used Gina Marie Designs Stitched Circle dies. I embossed the vanilla base card with a large dots embossing folder to mimic the circles. The sentiment is Label Love by Altenew. I really enjoyed the simplicity of creating with pre-printed images!
It’s official; I’m in LOVE! Stampendous has nailed it again with a gorgeous Wisteria stamp! I spent a little time coloring with my Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers, adding layers of purples and a touch of aqua, then surrounded the flowers with shades of gray, softening with a water brush. Once again, I used that beautiful script stamp from Stampin Up’s retired Botanicals to lightly stamp over the image, then spattered droplets of water over it all. I sponged a little Peeled Paint distress ink then a layer of Iced Spruce oxide ink around the edges, after cutting the image with my Gina Marie Designs Stitched Circle dies. The leafy background is cut from a notecard sent to me by a friend (it immediately went into my paper stash to recycle!) and I sponged a bit of the same distress inks around the edges to soften. I punched a hole and inserted a pearl brad to anchor the little grosgrain ribbon tab; the round image is mounted on another circle of fun foam to lift it up. I really enjoyed creating this beautiful card!
