Happy Hauntings with Glitterstock!

I’m having so much fun choosing which Glitterstock color to use for a new project and decided to use Tangerine for this card!  The color itself prompted a Halloween card with it’s gorgeous rusty-orange glitters!  To begin this card, I tapped Carved Pumpkin distress oxide ink onto my craft mat then spritzed it with water and dragged my watercolor cardstock through it.  After drying with my heat tool, I used Black Soot next, again drying before adding my final color, Dried Marigold.

 

If you look closely you can see the faint impression of Winnie & Walter’s Scenery stencil which I foiled using Thermoweb’s Deco Foil in Copper!  It made me think of a spider web!  Anyway, after dusting the surface with my Embossing Buddy, I heat-embossed my Inkadinkado stamp in black right over all the colors!

I have a skulls and crossbone stamp which I use on my biker cards, and thought it’d make a fun accent so stamped that in Raven Detail ink over the background.  Next I used my Stitched Rectangle dies to cut the panel and also cut the edge of a strip of Tangerine Glitterstock and attached them together with Thermoweb’s Sticky Tape Runner, then mounted it to a panel of white card stock.  I used my scissors to rough up the edges of the white paper.

I adhered the panel to a black card base which I embossed with Tim Holtz’ Gridlock Set folder, then added some copper sequins for a bit of bling to accent the Glitterstock on the left!  The sentiment is from a retired CTMH set called Thriller and I heat-embossed it onto white scraps, trimmed it down and mounted it with Thermoweb Sticky Dots!  I love how all the pieces came together in this card!  If you’re looking for a great glitter card stock, be sure to consider Brutus Monroe’s Glitterstock!  It comes in a variety of colors, doesn’t leave glitter “crumbs” at all and cuts like a dream!

Altenew Crown Blooms in Watercolor

There are so many amazing card artists whose work I admire, and especially those who can create clean and simple cards!  I don’t think I can create “clean and simple” if my life depended on it!  I started this card thinking I would keep it really simple, one layer, no texture.  HA!!  As usual, I strayed from the plan!  Sigh!  On a piece of watercolor card stock, I stamped and heat-embossed in white the blossom and leaves from Altenew’s Crown Blooms set, masking the flower in order to place the other images.  I then began coloring with my Zig markers, layer upon layer, using a wet paintbrush to move and soften the color.

  I know I’ve mentioned before that when I choose colors for my cards, I try to use the ones that are opposites on the color wheel for the most visual impact!  Blue and orange are always so striking together!  Anyway, when I finished coloring the flower and leaves, I filled in the background with an aqua marker and lots more water to spread the ink.  After drying it with my heat tool, I spattered some black, aqua and white ink over the images, then added “dew drops” with my Crystal Effects glue!  

 I trimmed the panel down with my trusty Gina Marie Designs Stitched Rectangle dies.  I found a butterfly embossed piece I’d made AGES ago, and thought it would make a nice “frame” for my card, so die-cut that with the Stitched Rectangles in a size larger.  I adhered the panels together then mounted them to a card base of aqua.  

Lastly, I heat-embossed the sentiment from Simon Says Stamp’s Beautiful Flowers set onto a strip of coral cardstock which I’d trimmed into a little banner, then attached it with some foam tape.  So much for “clean and simple”!!  I guess that’s just not my style!  But I love this card and think it’ll perfect for many occasions!  

It’s A Save!!

Hi there!  This card came about in a very unexpected way!  I recently bought a laminating machine and used it successfully a couple of times, but I had some trouble with it the other day!

I  started this card by taping down Brutus Monroe’s Paint Spots stencil to a piece of card stock, then covering it with a thin layer of Deco Foil Transfer Gel.  When it was dried I laid on a layer of Sunrise Foil Transfer sheet and ran it through the laminator but it got stuck halfway out!  I had to pull it from the machine and it came out all wrinkled and accordian-folded!  GAH!!  But those foiled dots stayed put so I decided to save it and go with a distressed look!

I twisted and wrinkled the panel to add more cool distress lines then got out the beautiful Wagon and Suede Surface Inks and sponged color all over it!  Next I used Raven Detail Ink on a sponge to go around the edges and to accent the wrinkles.  How awesome is that?!

From that point on, I was crankin!  I spattered some black and gold craft paint over it all, then die-cut my panel with a Stitched Rectangle die.  I added a layer of white behind it and adhered it to a black card base.  I die-cut the word “celebrate” from Tim Holtz’ Celebration Block Words  using a strip of black card stock, added the textured gold paper behind it and trimmed the end to a banner then mounted it to the card with foam tape for lift.  I rummaged around in my stash and found these black sprigs and thought they’d be a great accent, so glued them in behind the sentiment.

I absolutely LOVE how this came out!  What a save!!

Brutus Monroe + Deco Foil = WOW!!

Welcome back to our Wednesday Inspiration Team’s blog hop!  This week we’re so excited to feature Brutus Monroe‘s new line of Deco Foil products made especially for us!  We all received a box of goodies last week to play with and I admit, I was a bit intimidated at first!  I’ve only worked with the foil on my alcohol ink prints and loved it, but didn’t use Transfer Gel for those.  I had the mistaken idea that I need a heat laminator to use these products together, but thankfully, I was wrong!  Let me tell you about my project!

I started with a card base of Brutus Monroe’s heavy Lunchbag cardstock, and my Tim Holtz Numbers stencil which I taped to my card front.  I “painted” the Tranfer Gel right over the stencil, being sure to work it into the grooves and then removed my stencil and hit the gel on my card with the heat tool for a minute or so till it was dried but still a bit tacky.   I chose to use the gorgeous red/gold/black foil and laid it over the gelled design, then pressed and rubbed and pressed some more to transfer the foil.  I turned the foil around and did it again, making the lines of the foil go in the opposite direction just for the visual interest.  Next I inked up a sponge with Suede Surface Ink and sponged it all over the card front, then did the same with Wagon ink around the edges, and topped the edges off with a sponging of Raven Detail ink.  I added a light covering of the Raven over the card front to make the stenciled design stand out even more.

I heat-embossed the sentiment from Break The Rules onto a piece of die-cut cardstock, over-stamped with a Tim Holtz script stamp and sponged a little Suede  in the center and Raven around the edges.  The pointing finger stamp is by Stampabilities.  A layer of die-cut black went beneath to make it stand out.

My Favorite Things Roses All Over!

I was poking around just now in my CopyCatCard photo files and stumbled upon these fabulous backgrounds!!!  How did I not share them with you??!!  😀  Anyone who knows me, knows that I absolutely love floral stamps, and floral cards and FLOWERS!  I’ve had this gorgeous background stamp called Roses All Over (made by My Favorite Things) for a couple years and earlier this summer I got it out to play with.  The image on the left was made by heat-embossing in white onto a piece of Bristol Smooth card stock and watercolored with my Zig markers.  Basically, I scribbled randomly over the roses then used a sloppy wet paintbrush to move the color.  Isn’t it BEAUTIFUL?!  The one on the right was embossed in gold and I smooshed distress oxide inks onto my craft mat and then just tapped my card stock in it, moving it around to distribute and layer the color.  Equally gorgeous!

Here’s what I made with the distress oxide background!  I used Lawn Fawn’s Stitched Hillside Border dies to cut out the center and mounted it onto a white base card and embossed my sentiment in the opening.  Notice the lovely roses on the left; they’re from Stampendous’ Rose Garden, gold-embossed as well and painted with more oxide ink then die-cut.  Oh!  I used Gina Marie Designs Stitched Rectangle dies for the outside edge.  How do you like my photo setting?  I stuck my card in a pot of begonias to photograph it!

This little lovely is made with my Zig-watercolored background which I die-cut using Gina Marie Designs Stitched Ovals set.  My base card was embossed with one of my favorite folders, Manhattan Flower by Stampin Up.  I mounted the oval onto another oval cut from fun foam and die-cut Hero Arts Happy out of white fun foam!  I adhered that to a strip of bright pink card stock and used a little tape to attach it.  I then embossed “Anniversary” (from Stampendous Big Word Happy) onto another strip but lifted it with a little foam tape.  I just love how bright and cheery this card is and so happy that I found these images to share with you!  I love hearing from you so keep commenting!  🙂  XO

 

Life Is A Song

Confession time!  My last post entitled Altenew Academy + Brutus Monroe = Awesome! was mistakenly published too soon!  We went camping again this past weekend, but it was my turn to share a post on Brutus Monroe’s blog on Saturday!  I intended to schedule the publishing of it for then but hit the wrong button!!  GAH!  So, I scrambled to create another card and came up with this!  Brutus Monroe just had a fabulous Retirement Sale and I snagged this great embossing folder called Petal Lace and decided to ink it up today!  I’m really loving their Surface Inks and rubbed Zest on the flatter side of the folder then ran it through my Cuttlebug.  The color is just so RICH!!

I found a music stamp in my stash and inked it up with Raven Surface Ink and stamped it down the left side of my panel.  After trimming my panel down with a Stitched Rectangle die, I mounted it to a layer of white, then to a black card base.  This fun sentiment is from a set called Break The Rules and I stamped it with Raven onto a scrap of white card stock, then die-cut it with a Stitched Oval die.  I used Sidewalk ink on the music stamp and loosely stamped that onto the oval then smudged more Sidewalk around the edges.  Another oval in black beneath it makes it pop!

Finally, a layer of fun foam lifts the oval and completes my card!  I hope you like it as much as I do!
