I recently purchased this beautiful flower stamp, Large Posy by Hero Arts, from a member of a Facebook stamping group I’m a part of. It’s a great way to add new and not-so-new stamps to our collections! And you may know by now that watercoloring large florals is my favorite! I made three cards with Large Posy and this is the first! I heat-embossed the image in black onto a piece of watercolor card stock, then scribbled the Zig markers into the areas with the most black lines. I then used a wet paintbrush to move the color, adding more color to deepen the shadows. This is a really quick and easy way to effectively watercolor! When the flowers were dry, I smooshed Mowed Lawn distress ink onto my craft mat, added lots of water then painted the background with it. By picking up more ink, and less water I was able to create a darker area around the blossoms. I dried the panel with a heat tool, then dripped water droplets onto the background. How about that grid pattern?! I pressed a grid stencil in the wet ink and then laid it onto the card being sure to only let the design go where the green area was. I die-cut two “prayers” from another set I bought from the group member (Hero Arts Stamp & Cut Prayers) and then heat-embossed the remaining sentiments onto strips of card stock and attached them all to my card front. Lastly, I spattered some black paint then mounted the panel to a base card of white. For my second card, I heat-embossed in white onto watercolor card stock, then watercolored the blossom with a couple purple Zig markers and a wet paintbrush. When it was dry, I again smooshed distress oxide ink onto my craft mat (Squeezed Lemonade), watered it down and painted it all around the flower. Another set I bought from the group is CTMH’s Beloved Blossoms and I inked up one of the stamps with Fossilized Amber and stamped it over the damp yellow background. THEN, I inked up Stampin’ Up’s Dictionary with Iced Spruce distress oxide ink and after covering up the flower with a quickly torn “mask” of paper towel, I added that to the background! I trimmed the panel down, adhered it to a white layer then to a gray base card. I don’t recall who makes the sentiment but I heat-embossed that directly to the card front. Finally, a few faux droplets strategically placed were the final detail for my card! Last, but not least, this pink and gold beauty was the final card I made with Large Posy. I heat-embossed the image twice in gold onto watercolor card stock, then created my background in the same manner. Smoosh distress oxide ink, water it down, paint it onto the panel. Add drops of water for a little interest, stamp over it with my script stamp and done! The flowers were painted with just a little of the oxide inks that were on my mat. I trimmed my panel down then used a corner rounder on two corners, added a strip of gold glitter paper to one side and attached it to my white base card. I had this embossed sentiment in my stash, so trimmed one end to a banner and adhered it with two big gold brads. I’m especially fond of pink and gold together and so I especially like this card! I hope you do too! 🙂
I was poking around just now in my CopyCatCard photo files and stumbled upon these fabulous backgrounds!!! How did I not share them with you??!! 😀 Anyone who knows me, knows that I absolutely love floral stamps, and floral cards and FLOWERS! I’ve had this gorgeous background stamp called Roses All Over (made by My Favorite Things) for a couple years and earlier this summer I got it out to play with. The image on the left was made by heat-embossing in white onto a piece of Bristol Smooth card stock and watercolored with my Zig markers. Basically, I scribbled randomly over the roses then used a sloppy wet paintbrush to move the color. Isn’t it BEAUTIFUL?! The one on the right was embossed in gold and I smooshed distress oxide inks onto my craft mat and then just tapped my card stock in it, moving it around to distribute and layer the color. Equally gorgeous! Here’s what I made with the distress oxide background! I used Lawn Fawn’s Stitched Hillside Border dies to cut out the center and mounted it onto a white base card and embossed my sentiment in the opening. Notice the lovely roses on the left; they’re from Stampendous’ Rose Garden, gold-embossed as well and painted with more oxide ink then die-cut. Oh! I used Gina Marie Designs Stitched Rectangle dies for the outside edge. How do you like my photo setting? I stuck my card in a pot of begonias to photograph it!This little lovely is made with my Zig-watercolored background which I die-cut using Gina Marie Designs Stitched Ovals set. My base card was embossed with one of my favorite folders, Manhattan Flower by Stampin Up. I mounted the oval onto another oval cut from fun foam and die-cut Hero Arts Happy out of white fun foam! I adhered that to a strip of bright pink card stock and used a little tape to attach it. I then embossed “Anniversary” (from Stampendous Big Word Happy) onto another strip but lifted it with a little foam tape. I just love how bright and cheery this card is and so happy that I found these images to share with you! I love hearing from you so keep commenting! 🙂 XO
I received Splash of Color, a painting/coloring book for Christmas and decided it was high time I used it! I love that the images are printed on heavy watercolor paper! I cut this particular page into five pieces and here’s the first one I finished! I used Zig markers and a waterbrush; when the image was dry I spattered droplets of water, as I often do! Oh, and black spatters of paint!! After painting the image, I cut it down using Gina Marie Designs Stitched Oval dies, then cut a slightly larger layer in lime green. I ran my gray card base through the Cuttlebug with an embossing folder to give it added dimension, then mounted the ovals onto that, lifted with another oval of fun foam. Lastly, I stamped and cut the sentiment using Hero Arts Ribbon Messages; I used scraps of watercolor paper and adhered three banners together to form the thick one I attached to the card. This is the second card I made using one of the pieces I cut down from a page in Splash Of Color painting/coloring book. This time I used Gina Marie Designs Stitched Circle dies. I embossed the vanilla base card with a large dots embossing folder to mimic the circles. The sentiment is Label Love by Altenew. I really enjoyed the simplicity of creating with pre-printed images!
I recently saw (and saved!) a gorgeous card on Instagram made by @strangelycreative (Ericka Strange) using this stamp and was inspired to pull mine out to play! For starters, I heat-embossed the image in gold onto Strathmore Bristol Smooth card stock, then using my Zig markers, began to color! For the background, I chose my darkest shade of blue and section by section, drew a heavy line against the rose, then moved the ink with lots of water! For the roses, I used dark red and a dark pink mostly, adding two shades of yellow to the centers. Again, moving the ink with the water brush. When the panel was dry, I spattered drops of water all over which leaves an interesting speckled appearance! The “hello” sentiment is a sticker from Heidi Swapp! I trimmed the panel down enough to add a layer of gold paper beneath, then mounted it to a white card base. The last touch was to squeeze out a bit of gold Nuvo Drops onto my craft mat, add some water and spatter heavy droplets of the mixture over the entire panel. Thanks for the inspiration, Ericka!! 🙂
I feel like I’m behind on posting but I guess I’m not, really! This weekend I worked for several hours finishing up TONS of cards with the insides, envelopes and packaging. I am determined to complete the process for each card as I make it from now on!! I did take some time this evening to use this Stampendous Jumbo Dahlia image (no longer current) which I’d colored with Zigs a while back and had put aside. Today I cut it into two pieces so I could make two cards with it! This gorgeous background was made with Simon Say’s Stamp’s Kaleidoscope Leaves background stamp, upon which I randomly brushed Iced Spruce Distress Oxide ink along with a little Black Soot. I spritzed the stamp with water then stamped it onto a piece of Bristol Smooth card stock. The base card is actually the first one I did but didn’t like the look so just covered it with my second version! On a strip of the Bristol Smooth I used the Kaleidoscope Leaves background in the same manner, but with Carved Pumpkin and Fired Brick distress oxide inks, spritzing with water for that soft watery look. I trimmed it down, layered it onto a strip of gray textured card stock, then heat-embossed the sentiment in black. This card was created in the same way, but without the card stock layer behind the sentiment which is from Hero Arts Everyday Sayings set. I embossed that with black to make it pop on the softer background and lifted it with a strip of fun foam. A piece of Basic Gray patterned paper is placed behind the background layer and all was mounted to a black base card. I think these two cards are just beautiful and it felt good to create after hours of busy work with finishing up cards!!
I think this is one of my favorite sets by Simon Says Stamp! I had just gotten the die that goes with Bouquet of Thanks and had to try it out! The first thing I did for this card was stamp the image onto Bristol Smooth paper and color with Zig markers. I chose assorted bright colors and used a little water to soften them. I then used the die to cut out the image and set it aside while I figured out my next steps! Using my Hero Arts Ribbon Messages Stamp & Cut set, I stamped out Get Well onto a strip of watercolor paper then cut it with the banner die, adding a larger background banner in blue. I had the Gina Marie Designs Stitched Rectangle die already in my stash and decided to incorporate it into my card somehow. This pretty red and white polka-dotted paper came in a thick paper pad given to me by my daughter, Caitlin and was the perfect background for my card! I trimmed down a panel of it to fit on my white card base, then attached the Stitched Rectangle die cut in the center; I think it helps to break up the dotty background and nicely frames the flowers! The flowers were mounted with bits of foam tape and the last detail was to add some Nuvo Drops in Caribbean Ocean blue randomly onto the background! There’s a lot going on, but it all works beautifully, I think, don’t you? I hope that this card cheers up whoever receives it!
