Coloring Book to Card!

2018-05-15 15.52.56
I received Splash of Color, a painting/coloring book for Christmas and decided it was high time I used it!  I love that the images are printed on heavy watercolor paper!  I cut this particular page into five pieces and here’s the first one I finished!  I used Zig markers and a waterbrush; when the image was dry I spattered droplets of water, as I often do!  Oh, and black spatters of paint!!

After painting the image, I cut it down using Gina Marie Designs Stitched Oval dies, then cut a slightly larger layer in lime green.  I ran my gray card base through the Cuttlebug with an embossing folder to give it added dimension, then mounted the ovals onto that, lifted with another oval of fun foam.

Lastly, I stamped and cut the sentiment using Hero Arts Ribbon Messages; I used scraps of watercolor paper and adhered three banners together to form the thick one I attached to the card.

This is the second card I made using one of the pieces I cut down from a page in Splash Of Color painting/coloring book.  This time I used Gina Marie Designs Stitched Circle dies.  I embossed the vanilla base card with a large dots embossing folder to mimic the circles.  The sentiment is Label Love by Altenew.    I really enjoyed the simplicity of creating with pre-printed images!

Simon Says Stamp Bouquet of Thanks III

2018-03-25 10.15.11
I think this is one of my favorite sets by Simon Says Stamp!  I had just gotten the die that goes with Bouquet of Thanks and had to try it out!  The first thing I did for this card was stamp the image onto Bristol Smooth paper and color with Zig markers.  I chose assorted bright colors and used a little water to soften them.  I then used the die to cut out the image and set it aside while I figured out my next steps!

Using my Hero Arts Ribbon Messages Stamp & Cut set, I stamped out Get Well onto a strip of watercolor paper then cut it with the banner die, adding a larger background banner in blue.  I had the Gina Marie Designs Stitched Rectangle die already in my stash and decided to incorporate it into my card somehow.

This pretty red and white polka-dotted paper came in a thick paper pad given to me by my daughter, Caitlin and was the perfect background for my card!  I trimmed down a panel of it to fit on my white card base, then attached the Stitched Rectangle die cut in the center; I think it helps to break up the dotty background and nicely frames the flowers!  The flowers were mounted with bits of foam tape and the last detail was to add some Nuvo Drops in Caribbean Ocean blue randomly onto the background!  There’s a lot going on, but it all works beautifully, I think, don’t you?  I hope that this card cheers up whoever receives it!

What fun I had stamping out and coloring all these images from The Ton’s Magnificent Magnolia’s set!  I heat-embossed the magnolias in white onto Strathmore Watercolor paper, then used my Gansai Tambi watercolors to paint the image.  I cut the circle with Gina Marie Designs Stitched Oval dies,  and mounted it above a die-cut frame of soft yellow vellum.  The base card was embossed with Sizzix Floral Tapestry embossing folder.  Hero Arts Ribbon Messages sentiment and die-cut banner and a sprinkle of sequins completed this beautiful sympathy card.

I had this black & gold embossed background in my stash; it was made with Stampendous Jumbo Dahlia which I believe is no longer available on their website.

Stampendous Rose Garden/Rosebuds

I was incredibly thrilled and honored recently to receive several stamp sets from Stampendous in order to create cards for them!  This image is from Rose Garden and I just loved working with the rosebuds.  To begin with, I stamped the image onto Strathmore Bristol Vellum paper with Versafine Onyx Black ink.  I used many layers of Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers to color in the image, then used the coordinating die to cut it out.  Setting that aside, I found this hardwood embossed die-cut oval in my stash of papers, and thought it would enhance the rose stem beautifully!  It was cut using Gina Marie Designs Stitched Oval dies, and I had sponged brown ink onto it to bring out the texture.

I also found this piece of patterned paper in my supplies and think it’s PERFECT for the look I was going for!  Don’t you think the white outlined flowers on the corner of it look just like rosebuds?!  Ooooo, it’s the little things, right?!  🙂  Anyway, I cut that to size, adhered it to my card base, then attached the oval in the center.  In order to lift up the rosebuds and leaves, I had to cut tiny pieces of double-stick foam tape to fit under all the teensy sections!  But it was worth the time and effort because…well…you know!  It’s GORGEOUS!!  The final detail was to cut the banner using Hero Arts Ribbon Messages stamps and banner die, attach a little jewel and add it to the card front.  I’m so in love with this card and am so happy that Stampendous has entrusted me with promoting their images!
