I know I can’t be the only stamper out there who thinks that Tim Holtz and Brutus Monroe products would compliment each other wonderfully! I paired them up in this card and love the results! Let’s talk about what happened here! Starting on a base card of Lunchbox cardstock, I placed my grid stencil over it, then covered just a section of it with Deco Foil Transfer gel. I wiped off the excess then removed the stencil and let the gel dry to tackiness. I didn’t have my heat laminator at that point, so I just pressed the sheet of Drybrush Transfer Foil onto the tacky gel and rubbed it with a credit card to transfer the foil. I then turned the foil around to make the design go in the opposite direction and rubbed on some more. What a cool look! I heat-embossed the main image from Tim Holtz’ Road Trip set onto a piece of watercolor cardstock, then colored it in with Zigs, roughed up the edges with my scissors and sponged some Raven Detail ink to make it pop. On my base card with the foiled design, I stamped out the tire tracks with Hickory Smoke distress oxide ink, then stamped the other images in the background to fill in the space. Look at all that texture!I loved combining the products from two great companies! I wonder if Tim and Christopher have met in real life?! Perhaps a collaboration is in the future! I hope so! Welcome back to our Wednesday Inspiration Team’s blog hop! This week we’re so excited to feature Brutus Monroe‘s new line of Deco Foil products made especially for us! We all received a box of goodies last week to play with and I admit, I was a bit intimidated at first! I’ve only worked with the foil on my alcohol ink prints and loved it, but didn’t use Transfer Gel for those. I had the mistaken idea that I need a heat laminator to use these products together, but thankfully, I was wrong! Let me tell you about my project!I started with a card base of Brutus Monroe’s heavy Lunchbag cardstock, and my Tim Holtz Numbers stencil which I taped to my card front. I “painted” the Tranfer Gel right over the stencil, being sure to work it into the grooves and then removed my stencil and hit the gel on my card with the heat tool for a minute or so till it was dried but still a bit tacky. I chose to use the gorgeous red/gold/black foil and laid it over the gelled design, then pressed and rubbed and pressed some more to transfer the foil. I turned the foil around and did it again, making the lines of the foil go in the opposite direction just for the visual interest. Next I inked up a sponge with Suede Surface Ink and sponged it all over the card front, then did the same with Wagon ink around the edges, and topped the edges off with a sponging of Raven Detail ink. I added a light covering of the Raven over the card front to make the stenciled design stand out even more.I heat-embossed the sentiment from Break The Rules onto a piece of die-cut cardstock, over-stamped with a Tim Holtz script stamp and sponged a little Suede in the center and Raven around the edges. The pointing finger stamp is by Stampabilities. A layer of die-cut black went beneath to make it stand out.I just love how the shiny foil and embossing contrast so well with the grunge! I popped onto the Brutus Monroe website to see what other foiling items they carry and was shocked to see FOUR pages of all the supplies for this medium!! Sometimes it’s hard to come up with great “man cards” and I certainly am known for making tons of florals! But over the years I’ve created some masculine cards which I really love and want to share with you today! My first one is made using a very old, retired Stampin Up set called Fly Fishing. I’ve had it for many years and will never get rid of it! I used Stampin Up’s retired Old World Map and Crackle background stamps, Crumb Cake ink, and the images from Fly Fishing. Sponging ink around the edges and roughing them up gives this card a great distressed look! How about that lifted corner with a fishing fly stamped behind it?! 🙂 This card was also made with Stampin Up’s retired Old World Map and a very cool texture stamp which I’ve had for years. The ship image is one I bought from a Facebook stamping group, and I don’t know who made it. I think the little knotted twine gives this an added nautical feel! Okay, so a beer card!!! I made this for my husband and he loved it! I used Unity Stamp’s Keep Calm- Have A Beer set and embossed it in black then colored the beer with Zig markers. I added Crystal Effects clear glue as a glaze to depict the glass…just wish I’d thought to add beer foam somehow! The sentiment is also from awesome Unity Stamps! What guy doesn’t love a card with a vintage car?! I found and printed off this map of Vermont, sizing it down to fit my card and used images from Tim Holtz’ set Road Trip. The Chevelle stamp is made by Deep Red Stamps company. A fun baseball themed card using Stampin Up’s Take Me Out To The Ballgame and assorted texture stamps. The base card was embossed and sponged with ink to make the stars stand out. I love this card! This card was made especially for my husband who was taking guitar lessons at the time. The sentiment was perfect and the brown metal thingie is something I’d had in my stash for ages! I think it all came together beautifully! Isn’t this so serenely beautiful?! The main image is from Northwoods Rubber Stamps and I just love it! The base card was embossed with a pine branch embossing folder. I used Stampin Up’s Woodgrain background stamp on the sentiment strip. Here’s another ship card using the wonderful set Getting There by Tim Holtz! Distress oxide inks make this background so GORGEOUS!! 😀 Note: more aging/distressing/tearing and roughing up! I can’t stop looking at this card!! Lastly, I’ll end with this cool train card which I copied from one I found on Pinterest!
