More Beautiful Flowers

I just can’t seem to stop playing with this fabulous set, Beautiful Flowers by Simon Says Stamp!!  It’s so elegant and so versatile!  For this card, I chose to heat-emboss the image in gold but left the flowers uncolored.  I added a rich green background using my Zig markers by coloring heavily with Olive along the edge of the image, then blended it outward with Yellow Green.  I decided to extend the color to the top of the panel with vertical brushstrokes and really like how it looks!  

After coloring, I trimmed my panel down and added a frame of gold which I made using two sizes of stitched rectangle dies.  I stamped the spray of blossoms onto a piece of white card stock using gold pigment ink, and when it was dry, I adhered my framed panel to the front.  Finally, I heat-embossed the sentiment in gold.  I can’t wait to mail this to just the right person!  🙂

Simon Says Stamp Beautiful Flowers

I’m in love!!  This wonderful spray of blossoms is from a set called Beautiful Flowers by Simon Says Stamp and was included in their June card kit called Fly Me Away!  I’ve been seeing some stunning cards made with this, and well, you know!  I HAD to have it!!  😀  The first thing I did for this card was to stamp the image onto Bristol Smooth watercolor paper using Versafine Onyx Black ink.  BTW, this stamp is HUGE and my largest clear acrylic block was way too small, so I used one of the plates from my Cuttlebug instead!  That worked GREAT!  Anyway, I decided to use my Prismacolor pencils on this and spent a happy half hour filling in the blossoms and leaves.  As a final touch, to “smooth” out the color, I covered the flowers with a layer of light pink Zig marker, then fussy-cut them out, leaving one corner intact.  I love the contrast of the block-y styled words with the organic roses!  

Also included in the kit was this luscious Smoke Gray (heavy!) cardstock  upon which I stamped the spray of flowers using Iced Spruce distress oxide ink.  After drying the ink with my heat tool, I mounted the cut-out flowers using strips of foam tape.  The final touch was to add a few pretty sequins for a little sparkle!  

I think I’ll use a white gel pen and add some dots to the centers of these blossoms for contrast and interest!  Otherwise, I think this card is just perfect!  

Stenciled Summer Flowers

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge is to use a stencil in a card so I got on the bandwagon and created this!  The stencil I chose is one I drew and cut a couple years ago and I think it makes a nice backdrop for these blossoms from Summer Flowers!  On a white card base, I began by taping down my stencil, then with sponge daubers and distress oxide inks in Walnut, Fired Brick, Carved Pumpkin and Fossilized Amber, I filled in the spaces.  The Broken China blue (distress oxide ink) speckles were made with a very old Stampin Up texture stamp!  

I set that aside and pulled out a piece of special marker paper and stamped the images from Summer Flowers with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, then began to color with my new Copic markers.  My colors are still limited but I have enough for flowers!  

After coloring, I added more texture by dotting on some black Nuvo Drops.  Next, I fussy-cut the blossoms and leaves, cutting out some of the petals and curling the leaves a tad so I could stand them up a little for a more realistic appearance.  I then arranged them on top of the stenciled design, gluing the pieces down with Tacky Glue.  I stamped Thinking of You (The Ton’s Basic Labels) with Versafine Onyx Black ink onto a scrap of white, cut it out and mounted it with a bit of foam tape.  I wasn’t sure how this would come together but I’m quite happy with it!  

Stampendous + Simon Says Stamp = WOW

I feel like I’m behind on posting but I guess I’m not, really!  This weekend I worked for several hours finishing up TONS of cards with the insides, envelopes and packaging.  I am determined to complete the process for each card as I make it from now on!!  I did take some time this evening to use this Stampendous Jumbo Dahlia image (no longer current) which I’d colored with Zigs a while back and had put aside.  Today I cut it into two pieces so I could make two cards with it!  

This gorgeous background was made with Simon Say’s Stamp’s Kaleidoscope Leaves background stamp, upon which I randomly brushed Iced Spruce Distress Oxide ink along with a little Black Soot.  I spritzed the stamp with water then stamped it onto a piece of Bristol Smooth card stock.  The base card is actually the first one I did but didn’t like the look so just covered it with my second version!  

On a strip of the Bristol Smooth I used the Kaleidoscope Leaves background in the same manner, but with Carved Pumpkin and Fired Brick distress oxide inks, spritzing with water for that soft watery look.  I trimmed it down, layered it onto a strip of gray textured card stock, then heat-embossed the sentiment in black.  

This card was created in the same way, but without the card stock layer behind the sentiment which is from Hero Arts Everyday Sayings set.  I embossed that with black to make it pop on the softer background and lifted it with a strip of fun foam.  A piece of Basic Gray patterned paper is placed behind the background layer and all was mounted to a black base card.  

I think these two cards are just beautiful and it felt good to create after hours of busy work with finishing up cards!!  

Mom Flowers In Pink & Gold

I’ve really enjoyed embossing these blossoms in a variety of colors and just had to do gold!  Colored with Zig markers, I fussy-cut them out and set them aside.  On a piece of white card stock, I heat-embossed in gold this very old Italian script stamp I’ve had for years!  Then I brushed Picked Raspberry distress oxide ink over it with a very soft makeup brush.

I gold-embossed MOM onto a scrap of Bristol Smooth and created the ombre effect by placing a little color at the top of the letter, then used my water brush to pull it down.  I fussy-cut the letters so they’d fit better on my card.  The leaves are by Gina Marie Designs and I die-cut them from this interesting gold foil paper I’ve had on hand.  

Lastly, I arranged the blossoms and leaves then adhered them with glue and foam tape for dimension.  No promises that this is my last Mom Flowers card!  😉  

Simon Says Stamp Mom Flowers!

I can’t get enough of this lovely set, Mom Flowers by Simon Says Stamp!  For this card and the next one, I used pretty shades of gray and yellow Zig markers to color, after heat-embossing the blossoms in silver!  I stamped the background with Stampin Up’s Smoky Slate ink, then stamped MOM on a scrap of Bristol Smooth with Fossilized Amber distress oxide ink.  The sprigs are die-cut from silver foil card stock.

Isn’t the sentiment over the MOM just so pretty and meaningful?!  I also love how the light reflects off the embossed flowers and the foil sprigs!

The card didn’t seem complete until I added drops of yellow Nuvo Drops as accents.  These cards will be going to our local gift shop soon for Mother’s Day!

I had this pretty patterned paper in my stash, and die-cut the ovals with Gina Marie Designs Stitched Oval dies, then attached them to the base card of white upon which I’d randomly stamped the blossoms in Fossilized Amber distress ink.  After embossing MOM onto another scrap of Bristol Smooth card stock, I sponged Fossilized Amber distress oxide ink around the edges and mounted it using a strip of fun foam to lift it up.  I arranged the blossoms and silver sprig atop the MOM strip, and then added Nuvo Drops in silver to accent!

I think someone’s Mom will love this card!  🙂

So many beautiful papers just waiting to be used!!  Look at this one with pinks, yellow and brown!  I love the vintage look of it; it reminds me of old-fashioned wallpaper!  My new set isn’t looking so new anymore!  😀

Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers make it so quick and easy to color beautifully!

I had die-cut this ornate frame from brown patterned paper in order to glue it on top of the fun foam one, but the foam frame stretched out a little so the paper one didn’t fit.  Oh well!  It still works!  😀
