I stumbled across a different version of this card using Altenew’s Beautiful Day on Flickr (created by pearlyg8s2) and was blown away by the incredible detail in her coloring! I just HAD to copy it! Her card was done in reds, greens and golds but I chose to use blues in mine. I pretty much completely CASE’d by positioning the peony and leaf images almost exactly as she did, and then, with her card on my phone as a prompt, I copied the details of her coloring, petal by petal, leaf by leaf. This was such a great learning experience for me, as I used my Zig Clean Color Brush markers‘s in ways I never had before. Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers were fabulous for the depth and richness of coloring these images; after completing the blossoms and leaves, I then added the shadows around the outer edges with the markers as well, smudging it a bit with my finger to soften it. I adhered the panel to a white base card, then spattered a little brown ink and white craft paint and attached a few sequins. To finish my card, I heat-embossed in black the sentiment from Altenew’sLabel Love set and lifted it up a little with some double-stick foam tape behind it. This may be one of my all-time favorite cards I’ve ever made and am so grateful to “pearlyg8s2” for the inspiration!
